The Transparency Pledge: How We Differ from the Ad-Heavy Giants

Trust is hard to earn and easy to lose. That's why we are publishing our Transparency Pledge. In this post, we lay out exactly how our site works, how we treat our data, and our promise to prioritize your savings over our ad revenue.

The State of Trust in E-Commerce

When was the last time you trusted an online review without wondering if it was paid for?

When was the last time you saw a "Top 10" list and assumed it was based purely on merit?

When was the last time you clicked a "Best Price" and didn't wonder if there was a better option somewhere else?

Trust in online shopping has eroded. And it's not your fault. It's because companies have consistently chosen profit over honesty.

We're here to change that.

Our Transparency Pledge

Here's what we commit to, in writing, permanently:

1. We Will Always Show the Lowest Price First

Our algorithm ranks results by one metric: price. Lowest to highest. That's it.

We don't care if the cheapest retailer is our affiliate partner. We don't care if they pay us nothing. We don't care if they're a massive brand or a one-person operation.

The lowest price wins. Always.

2. We Will Never Hide Retailers Who Don't Pay Us

Most comparison sites only show retailers who pay them a commission. If a store doesn't have an affiliate program, it doesn't appear in results.

We show every retailer we can find, regardless of whether they compensate us.

If you're browsing FindPrices and see 10 results, those are the 10 lowest prices we found. Not the 10 retailers who paid us the most.

3. We Will Disclose Affiliate Relationships

We earn money through affiliate commissions when you purchase from certain retailers. This is how we keep the lights on.

But we will always disclose which retailers are affiliate partners. You'll see a small note next to those results.

And here's the key: affiliate status has zero impact on ranking. If an affiliate is cheapest, they appear first. If a non-affiliate is cheapest, they appear first.

4. We Will Not Sell Your Data

Your search history belongs to you. We don't track you across the web. We don't build advertising profiles. We don't sell your data to third parties.

We only collect the minimum data necessary to provide the service:

That's it. No cookies following you around the internet. No data brokers buying your browsing history.

5. We Will Publish Our Methodology

How do we find prices? How do we verify retailers? How do we match products across different sites?

We'll explain it all. No black boxes. No proprietary magic. Just clear explanations of how our system works.

(Check our FAQ for the technical details.)

6. We Will Admit When We're Wrong

No algorithm is perfect. Sometimes we'll show an outdated price. Sometimes we'll miss a retailer. Sometimes we'll make a mistake.

When that happens, we'll fix it immediately and acknowledge the error. Transparency includes admitting imperfection.

7. We Will Put Users Before Growth

It would be easy to pad our results with sponsored listings. We'd make more money.

It would be easy to boost retailers who pay higher commissions. We'd increase revenue.

It would be easy to track users across the web and sell that data. We'd unlock a massive revenue stream.

We won't do any of it.

We'd rather grow slowly and maintain trust than grow fast and become another ad-driven platform.

How We Make Money (The Honest Explanation)

We believe in radical transparency, so here's exactly how our business works:

Revenue Source 1: Affiliate Commissions

When you buy a product through FindPrices from a retailer we have an affiliate relationship with, we earn a small commission (typically 1-5% of the sale).

This costs you nothing extra. The retailer pays us, not you.

Revenue Source 2: Premium Features (Future)

We're exploring optional premium features like historical price tracking, deal alerts, and advanced filtering. These would be paid upgrades for power users.

Core price comparison will always be free.

What We Don't Do:

Why This Matters

You might be thinking: "Why does this matter? Isn't this how all comparison sites should work?"

Yes. But they don't.

Here's what happens on most platforms:

The entire industry is built on a conflict of interest: you want to spend less, but comparison sites make more money when you spend more.

We're breaking that model. Our only goal is to help you find the lowest price. When you save money, we've succeeded.

Holding Us Accountable

This pledge is public. It's permanent. And we want you to hold us to it.

If you ever see FindPrices hiding a cheaper option, call us out.

If you catch us ranking results by commission instead of price, tell everyone.

If we betray this pledge, we don't deserve your trust.

Our contact information is public. Our founder (me) is on LinkedIn. We're a small team, and we're reachable.

The Bottom Line

Trust isn't built with promises. It's built with consistency.

Every search you run on FindPrices is a test. Does the cheapest price appear first? Are we hiding retailers? Are we being honest?

We're confident you'll see the difference. And when you do, we hope you'll tell others.

Because the only way to fight a broken system is to build a better one and prove it works.

That's our pledge. Now let us earn your trust.
